Archaeology and Heritage Management Consultancy is an independent archaeological management consultancy and contractor assisting developers and their agents, utility companies, landowners and private individuals with a broad range of professional services.
In England, archaeology and the planning process is generally covered by Planning Policy Guidance Note 16 (PPG 16): Archaeology and Planning (1990), often supplemented by Local or Structure Plans. As a result, archaeological works will often need to be undertaken as a pre-planning requirement or included as a planning condition attached to a Consent Notice, to ascertain the importance of an archaeological site.
In some cases, development sites may contain Scheduled Ancient Monuments (as defined by the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Areas Act 1979). Any development of these sites would require consent from the Secretary of State.
Archaeology and Heritage provides a full range of services to clients throughout the Southwest. We are also available to be contracted throughout the UK and internationally to work as consultants and contractual archaeologists, and advise clients on cultural heritage management and tourism programmes.
In addition, our range of services enables us to work with governmental agencies, local authorities, museums, historic properties, interest groups, film and TV companies and educational institutions through our sister companies Historical Promotions and Event Management, Heritage Film Services and Heritage Education Service.
